Internal toothed washers
Description
Internal toothed washers with geometry according to the standard DIN 6797 have small sharp and twisted teeth that extend inward from the inside edge of the washer and, when compressed, indent the bearing surface and the bolt’s underhead to provide a discrete antiloosening effect.
These washers are recommended when the head of the bolt is smaller than the external diameter of the washer. They can provide a discrete locking effect, in particular on non-flat bearing surfaces and are suitable for light application and soft bearing surface, such as aluminium and plastic.
In electrical applications, the teeth create a grounding surface to improve the connection.
Internal toothed washers are normally designed for use with bolt/nut assemblies involving fasteners of a property class less than 6.8.
