External toothed washers
Description
External toothed washers with geometry according to the standard DIN 6797 are made with small sharp and twisted teeth on the outer profile of the piece that, when compressed, indent the bearing surface and bolt’s underhead and provide a discrete antiloosening effect.
They are more effective on flat bearing surfaces that are larger than their outer diameter and when used with soft bearing surface, such as aluminium and plastic.
In electrical applications, the teeth create a grounding surface to improve the connection.
External toothed washers are normally designed for use with bolt/nut assemblies involving fasteners of a property class less than 6.8.
